The Mini Sparks of Meaning first session was a mini spark of positivity in our typical lockdown day!
International Women in Business Düsseldorf are presenting one month of support, growth and learning with Nina Jankovic, practicing Positive Psychologist and founder of Spark Positive.
In this first session we had women from all over the world listen to Nina discuss some science and then a Q&A regarding our own questions about Positive Psychology.
The points that I took away from the session are here:
We all have something to give during these times.
We all can make this world a better place and we can all help each other. This does not have to be a world changing touch but think more about changing the world for those people we can reach out and touch. Your family, your friends and your neighbours. You can make a change for them.
Black Spot and lots of White Space
This was a picture that Nina showed us. What do you see? There is a large black spot. That could represent your lockdown, or your worries. But there is a lot of white space too. That represents your possibilities! There is a lot of space – what will you challenge yourself to do with that white space today?
Making the Best of the Here and Now
This one was clear. What can you think about to make the best of the here and now? Can you think of the positives coming out of this situation?
Random Acts of Kindness
This is a proven happiness improver for you and the person you give the random act of kindness too. See Flourishing by Martin Seligman. This act of kindness means you are giving something to help someone else. This can be to a stranger or to someone in your social circle. What kind thing can you do today?
Bouncing Game
Nina challenged us to stay 5m away from anyone else as we go for our exercise or our food shopping trips. This 5m bouncing off other people is more than the 2m recommendation, but gives other the chance to move away from you and your safe social distancing space. Ive been practicing it over the long weekend and its pretty difficult along the Rhein!
Q&A
We then asked Nina some questions about our concerns. If you would like to ask Nina a private question or would like your question to help Nina set up the next discussion – please contact Nina.
Next Thursday
Through these 30 minute mini sparks of meaning, every Thursday in April at 17:00 through Zoom, Nina will be back to share some scientific background and practical tools on how to thrive in these challenging times. You will also have another chance to discuss topics relevant to you through Q&A.
