Well, simply put, a Mentor provides high-quality listening and a safe space whilst sharing her knowledge, experience and support with her mentee. In doing so, the Mentor helps the Mentee to define her goals, encouraging her to take steps forward toward these defined goals.
The Mentee on the other hand is looking for encouragement, support and a space to focus on making changes happen through learning and action. She may want to change or further develop her career, build her confidence, deal with a difficult situation in her work environment, or even start a small business. Regular meetings with her assigned Mentor will help her to define her goals and take action on them.
A little more about the Mentoring Programme:
The iwibdus Mentoring Programme matches Mentees with Mentors who are best suited to help with these aims. A partnership is formed for a period of 6 months with the primary aim of working on the Mentee’s goals.
Each mentoring partnership is unique due to the individuals involved as well as the defined focus of their goals. The heart of the Mentoring Programme is ‘women helping women’.
Our Mentoring Programme offers everyone (both Mentors and Mentees) a learning opportunity – we start by training the Mentors and Mentees on the essentials of effective mentoring. Thereafter, we host monthly sessions for Mentors and Mentees to reflect on the learnings from the last weeks and provide further training. We also provide additional online resources which are made available to the women taking part in the Mentoring Programme.
