Talent Fair 2019 Update
When we designed the Talent Fair we planned to make an event where women could present themselves and their CV in the style of a TED talk , to potential employers in Dusseldorf, in order to get a job. Part of our initial conversation was ‘how would we judge if this event was successful or not?’
We decided that if one women entered full time employment as a result of our event , it would be deemed a success.
The Talent Fair was hosted in the conference centre at Uniper . It was a great place as we had plenty of room – first for the formal presentations at the front and then for the informal networking which took place right after, when women made contact with potential employers. The evening ran smoothly and the 11 women that presented were super professional.
Scroll back several weeks and to some sessions run by Katy Kennedy and Catherine Guillou – we asked women who wanted to present to prepare a talk about themselves and then they came and took part in some intensive training to help them perfect the content of their talk and their delivery of it. We talked about how they would be most authentic on the night including examples they used that made them stand out and how they would dress. We saw a marked improvement from the feedback they received and the work seems to have paid off…
Out of the 12 women who presented themselves 8 people have found a job!
Honestly, in our wildest dreams, we did not think we would have that level of success. We are thrilled and we worked hard to achieve this. We are scheduling our future events and a Talent Fair will happen again. We aim to build our contacts with local companies hoping to increase opportunities for all the women in our community hoping to find a job or wanting to change jobs.
The next talent fair will be on December 2nd 2019. Please contact us for more details
